No-Start Service: Car Won't Start in Colorado Springs
A no-start usually falls into two camps: the engine does not turn over at all, or it turns over but never fires. Each one points to different parts - battery, starter, fuel, ignition, or the security system - and guessing at parts without testing wastes time and money.
Symptoms
- One click or fast clicking when you turn the key
- Nothing - no crank at all
- Cranks normally but never starts
- Fine yesterday, dead this morning
- Comes and goes - sometimes starts, sometimes does not
Can I keep trying to start it?
- If it does not crank, more tries usually will not help and can overheat the starter. One or two attempts, then stop.
- If it cranks but will not start, a few tries are OK. Do not hold the key down - that can flood a fuel-injected engine.
- If you smell fuel strongly or see smoke, stop cranking and call us.
Common causes
- Weak or dead battery - most common, especially after a cold night
- Failed starter or loose, corroded battery cables
- Alternator not charging - the battery may have died on the drive before
- Fuel pump, crank sensor, or security/immobilizer fault
- Out of gas or badly fouled spark plugs - engine cranks, no start
What happens next
- Call or text. Tell us: click, silence, or cranks-no-start - and what happened right before.
- We test the battery, starter draw, and fuel/ignition paths in that order.
- Once we know which system failed, we can talk tow-in or what to do next.
